Dr. Jennifer Sherwood (Dr. Jenni) first gained interest in a career as a doctor of chiropractic after sustaining injuries in a car accident in her freshman year of college. After a successful rehabilitation and completing degrees in pre-physical therapy and biology from California State University, Sacramento, Dr. Jenni went on to earn Cum Laude honors as a student at Palmer College of Chiropractic West in San Jose, CA.

Dr. Jenni relocated to Chapel Hill from Northern California with her family and now 12-year-old twins in 2013.

Assisting patients of all ages with their health care needs since 1999, Dr. Sherwood enjoys helping individuals overcome their difficulties and painful physical dilemmas.

Dr. Jenni uses 'her gift of healing' to improve the health and wellness in all areas of patients' lives. Whether patients present with back pain or neck pain, or just want to start feeling better when they wake up in the morning, Dr. Jenni takes a 'whole person' approach in the recovery process - looking for the underlying causes of disease, discomfort, and pain, as opposed to just treating the symptoms.

Chiropractor

Sean E. McCauley D.C.

LOCATION: Moring Chapel Hill NC
Dr. McCauley is a licensed chiropractic physician and graduate of New York Chiropractic College (Magna cum laude). He is a US Navy Veteran who was stationed in Washington, D.C. as a member of the US Navy Presidential Honor Guard.

The past 15 years he has been the owner of a chiropractic practice in Massachusetts. He has recently relocated to North Carolina with his wife and 3 children. His wife has joined a UNC practice and working as an internist and pediatrician.

He specializes in the treatment of neck and back injuries. He performs Diversified Technique adjustments (hands-on). He is certified in Flexion-Distraction Technique (one of the few clinics in this region – proven to provide phenomenal results with disc injuries and sciatica) as well as the Graston Technique (instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization aimed at breaking down scar tissue and fascial restrictions). He holds advanced certification from the Spine Research Institute of San Diego in the areas of auto accident reconstruction and evaluation and treatment of auto related injuries (headaches, neck and back pain).

Dr. McCauley is focused on improving pain and helping people achieve the functional levels they desire. He is excited to be joining Back Solutions in order to continue to help people work to become pain-free.

Brian Walker D.C.

Dr. Brian Walker brings a unique blend of advanced training, real-world experience, and a deep passion for patient care to Carolina Spine Specialists.

He graduated Valedictorian of his class from Palmer College of Chiropractic in 2014, where he went above and beyond the standard curriculum—diving into multiple elective techniques to ensure his patients have a wide variety of care options. His goal? To offer personalized, results-driven chiropractic care tailored to each individual.

During his time at Palmer, Dr. Brian Walker was selected for a prestigious internship at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Augusta, Georgia, where he served our nation’s veterans with honor and skill. After graduation, he completed over 100 hours of advanced training in rehabilitation and corrective exercise, with a focus on ligament damage, scoliosis, and spinal curvatures.

Before becoming a chiropractor, Dr. Brian Walker worked in neuroscience research and assisted in brain and spine surgeries—an experience that gave him rare insight into the world of conventional medicine. It also fueled his mission: to help people heal naturally and avoid surgery whenever possible.

Dr. Brian Walker has called Cary, North Carolina home since 2016, where he lives with his wife and four children. When he's not in the clinic, you’ll likely find him hiking or kayaking with his family, soaking up the beauty of North Carolina’s lakes and mountains.

He’s thrilled to be part of the team at Carolina Spine Specialists in Cary and looks forward to making a positive impact in the community he calls home.

Chiropractor

Jacqulyn Nygren D.C.

LOCATION: Pittsboro NC

Dr. Nygren has been practicing chiropractic since 2006. She has always had a strong desire to help others, making people her passion. She enjoys working with the physical body to restore healthy biomechanics and a more efficient nervous system.

She has had experience with all ages and has had extra training in infant care, pregnancy, extremity and sports issues, chronic pain, and instrument assisted manipulation. She has worked extensively with performance athletes in addition to the general population.

Some of the techniques Dr. Nygren uses are Diversified, Drop Table, Activator and instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization. She incorporates many different modalities as each person has unique needs. She is very focused on patient care and believes in a holistic approach to healing.

After working as a locum doctor for a few years, Dr. Nygren is excited to be back in the Chatham community where she first began her practice. Dr. Nygren is a mom to three fun humans, two dogs (one who is the subject in many of her stories) and three chickens. Her spare time is spent chauffeuring, working in the yard or on a project, and reading.

Kye Cooper

Kye is certified through the state of North Carolina as a Chiropractic Assistant and X-Ray Technician. Kye brings to Carolina Spine Specialists over 5 years of knowledge and experience in several different therapies such as Spinal Decompression, MyAct Piezo Shockwave, Class IV Laser Therapy, Ultrasound and E-Stim.

Ky received her educational background in Sports Medicine & Kinesiology from Campbell University. She received all of her certifications from the NC Board of Chiropractic Examiners

When not providing excellent patient care, you can find Ky spending her free time with her 2 daughters or in the kitchen baking delicious treats

I joined Carolina Spine Specialists in mid-August 2024, and I’ve truly enjoyed being part of this amazing field for the past three years. I’m a Certified Clinical Chiropractic Assistant and love combining my training with a genuine passion for helping people feel their best.

Originally from Mexico City, I grew up in good ole Pittsboro and Chapel Hill, and I’m proud to call this community home. I’m a mom to three incredible adult children who live nearby, and I feel lucky to have them close.

I’ve always been drawn to the healing arts and holistic wellness, and I’m passionate about traveling, cooking, and finding new ways to grow—both personally and as a member of the community.

At any given time, I usually have a few art projects going, but my real love is music—especially playing the djembe drum. Whether I’m dancing at a festival, enjoying a live concert, or putting on a one-woman show in my car, music fuels my soul.

Working at Governors Village has been such a joy. The people I’ve met here make every day feel more like fun than work. Thanks to all of you for the smiles and great energy!

Vanessa graduated from ECPI with an Associates Degree in Health Science in 2017. After graduating she began her career as a medical records department head at a nursing facility. Vanessa furthered her career by obtaining her Certified Nursing Certificate.

As Patient Care Coordinator at Carolina Spine Specialists, Vanessa handles patient scheduling, payments and making sure the patient experience is top-notch, keeping the office running smoothly. Vanessa's favorite aspect of her job is interacting with patients.

Vanessa's interests are attending sports activities with her children and giving back to the community. She also loves traveling and visits family all over the globe.

Megan Hayes

Megan recently relocated to Pittsboro from Wilmington, NC, bringing over a decade of experience in the healthcare field. With a background in mental health and substance abuse counseling, she transitioned her expertise into health and wellness, focusing on the connection between mind and body.

Her diverse experience includes roles as a personal trainer, yoga instructor, chiropractic assistant, and office manager.

Passionate about helping others achieve their wellness goals, Megan is dedicated to creating a supportive and welcoming environment for both patients and staff. When she's not working, she enjoys playing basketball, exploring new restaurants, and spending time with her son and two doodles.
